Toxicity of Zinc on the Biochemical Contents of Certain Tissues of Freshwater Fish, Channa
نویسنده
چکیده
Industrial effluent containing heavy metals, on entering aquatic environment causes biochemical disturbances in the fish. The present study deals with the toxicity of Zinc as (ZnSO4), as a component of industrial waste and its effect on tissue glycogen and protein level at 24, 48, 72 & 96 hrs respectively .The estimated glycogen and protein concentration in the tissuesgills, liver, kidney, ovary and testis were found to be reduced during the exposure periods.

Acute Toxicity of Mercuric Chloride (HgCl2), Lead Chloride (PbCl2) and Zinc Sulfate (ZnSO4) on Silver Dollar Fish (Metynnis fasciatus)
Background: Since heavy metals can accumulate in the tissues of aquatic organisms, they can cause a range of hazardous effects which can become harmful to humans. The aim of this study was to investigate the acute effects of some heavy metals as potential dangerous substances by assessing the mortality effects of Mercuric Chloride (HgCl2), Lead Chloride (PbCl2) and Zinc Sulfate (ZnSO4) pollutan...

The freshwater fish, Channa gachua was exposed to sub-lethal concentrations of an organophosphorus pesticide, monocrotophos. The fish was exposed to acute toxicity of monocrotophos for 16, 24 and 48 hours while for chronic toxicity it was exposed for 15, 30 and 45 days. The monocrotophos was found to be toxic to the fish, which was found to be increasing with the increase of its concentration. ...
متن کاملThe effect of zinc sulfate under boron toxicity conditions on some morphophysiological and biochemical properties of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.)
Boron is an essential plant micronutrient that is involved in the cell wall and membrane structure and functioinig. Boron is often found in high concentrations in association with agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions. In order to investigate the effect of zinc sulfate on some morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics of two grapvine cultivars under toxicity of boron, a ...
متن کاملIMPACT OF HEAVY METAL, CHROMIUM ON GLYCOGEN CONTENTS IN GILL, LIVER AND KIDNEY OF FRESHWATER FISH, Channa striatus (BLOCH)
Abstract Fish is generally appreciated as one of the healthiest and cheapest source of protein and it has amino acid compositions that are higher in cysteine than most other sources of protein. Heavy metals are natural trace components of the aquatic environment but their levels have increased due to industrial wastes, geochemical structure, agricultural and mining activities. All these sources...
متن کاملSolar photocatalytic treatment of wastewater with zinc oxide nanoparticles and its ecotoxicological impact on Channa punctatus –a freshwater fish
Azo dye and hexavalent chromium are two carcinogenic and toxic pollutants present in industrial wastewater. Zinc oxide nanoparticles can be used for the treatment of these pollutants with solar energy. However the nanoparticles themselves generally have some inherent toxicity for aquatic life. In this work, we have selected Channa punctatus as the model aquatic animal and examined whether the n...
